Whiskey Sour || Cocktail Series

What I find so interesting with food and cocktail are there is always a new take, a new twist that someone is trying. There is always a wax and wane of additions and then the simplistic. The whiskey sour is a favorite of mine.  It’s basic. It’s tried and true. Every bar makes it slightly different but the general cocktail is the same.

What I liked about this version is the egg white and I think the egg white adds that special something that other versions don't always have. This is sweet, but not overly sweet and also, you can switch up the juice depending on your taste or panty selection (I tried both, I'm a bigger fan of the lemon). 

Also, I just switched to Canon this week. This was my first shoot on my new equipment. It's new and something frustrating but I like the concept that I have to think prior to taking a photo. I haven't had to do that in a while (I knew everything about my old Nikon gear). But I really enjoyed slowing down for this images.  In addition, the images (not the video) was done in the evening by lighting. So I'm excited to play around with that a bit too. In a bit I'll give you a reason of why I switched, but for today you will just have to pour yourself a drink!

 

Whiskey Sour

  • 2 oz Whiskey
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz lemon or orange juice
  • 1 egg white
Mix all ingredients in a shaker. Shake for 10 plus seconds. Then add ice, shake for 4-5 more seconds, strain in 5 oz glass. Garnish with lemon or orange.

In a saucepan, dissolve 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water and reduce slightly. Pull off heat. Once boba pearls are done setting (above) spoon into sugar mixture and stir until covered.
