Lemon Shrub Margarita || Cocktail Series

If I can be honest for a second, my favorite part of summer is the lazy summer cocktail you treat yourself as the sun slowly sets in the late evening on a Friday. That cool drink refreshes you and lets you relax from a stressful week. So this summer, in celebration of the new blog, I'll be showcasing a new cocktail recipe on the blog every Friday. 

First recipe is done in part to QC Malt new malted beverage Lemon Shrub. I've been having a blast photographing this and their other brew, Old Dutch (some of those images are being showcased next week!)

I wanted the first of the series to be a great start to summer, and I can't think of something more summery than a frozen margarita. When I was a kid, slushies were my jam and the frozen margarita makes a pretty great adult beverage substitute.

Lemon Shrub Margarita

  • 1 can (12 oz) Lemon Shrub Malt Beverage
  • 8 oz tequila
  • 4 oz of triple sec (I used Cointreau)
  • 8 cups ice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 oz lemon juice (optional for tartness)

Blend all ingredients together in blender and pour into salt (or sugar) rimmed glass. I added lemon zest to my salt rim!
